About these photographs…

What can you say about Rome that hasn‘t already been said?

It‘s beautiful, over-crowded, romantic, dirty, exciting, picturesque, colorful, graffiti-covered, noisy, ancient and modern, crude and refined, polished and raw—intensely intense. A first-time visitor, as I was in 2006, is nearly overwhelmed by the sheer quantity of stimulation—visual, aural, historical, cultural, gustatorial… The list goes on.

“Everyone soon or late comes round by Rome.”
     - Robert Browning

“All things atrocious and shameless flock from all parts to Rome.”
     - Tacitus

“All roads lead to Rome”
     - Proverb
